Stockist Spotlight Q&A: ToneLAB
When was ToneLAB founded?
ToneLAB started in August 2023 and has since expanded to seven studios across the Hunter and into three district training styles - ToneLAB Reformer, Performance and Training.
What is ToneLABs approach to pilates training and it's overall philosophy behind the classes?
ToneLAB Reformer is an inclusive community where everyone is welcome. All of our classes are open level, meaning we cater to all abilities. During each class, members are given options to progress or regress exercises based on the movement and/or resistance load, ensuring each individual can work at their own pace.
Our programs are designed to challenge you while reinforcing the fundamental movements each week. This allows you to feel confident in every class, try something new, and choose a different workout style each day. Our staff are highly trained and passionate about what they do, always striving to achieve the best outcomes for each member and supporting them throughout their fitness journey!
Why is it important to incorporate traditional weight training into your pilates classes at ToneLAB?
We feel it added something that can sometimes be missing from pure reformer classes. We also know there are significant benefits from weight training and wanted to incorporate that into our training!
How do you see pilates evolving in the future and how do you plan to stay ahead in the industry?
We believe that the best training has a holistic approach which is why we feel that having multiple disciplines of training is important - we also have a few new ideas in the works but don't want to give too much away for what we have planned next year!
What equipment and/or accessories do you stock from MoveActive?
The equipment we use in the studios are the Resistance Bands, Core Sliders, Pilates Balls and Ankle/ Wrist weights. We also have the Cork Massage Ball and Cork Roller available for our members to use and of course, we have MoveActive's Grip Socks available to purchase.
Do you have any success stories or a testimonial you'd like to share?
Yes this is from a member - "Before I joined ToneLAB, I hadn't worked out or been to a gym in about five years, so I was honestly pretty intimidated about getting back into it. The hardest part was just signing up for my first class, but once I did, the team at ToneLab made everything so much easier.
From the moment I walked in, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The instructors were amazing - checking in on me and offering encouragement during my first classes. The community at ToneLAB is really special. People show up, get to know each other, have a laugh and really cheer each other on. The music is great, and the instructors are not only knowledgeable but also really supportive. I've never dreaded going to class like I have with the gym or personal trainers in the past. There's accountability, but there is no pressure and you can go at your own pace.
One of the things I love about ToneLAB is that they cater to all fitness levels. There's no judgment if you need to take things slow or choose an easier option. Whether you're just starting out or more experienced, the instructors support you every step of the way. This flexibility helped me stay consistent with my workouts.
Over time, I built up from doing pilates 2-3 times a week to 5-6 times a week, and even as my strength and skills improved I never got bored and kept being challenged by the classes. Joining ToneLAB has been transformational. In my first 20 weeks, I lost 20 kilos, and since then, i've lost almost 30 kilos in total, built more muscle, improved my mental health and am feeling stronger and fitter than ever."
