We are so excited to have you part of our Ambassador team! Tell us a little about yourself?

I've lived in Melbourne my whole life, I've always been very active, starting ballet at the age of 5 and going on to train in jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, theatrical, and character, the transition from dance to Pilates was a very smooth one! I originally studied Public Relations at uni and worked in the industry for a range of creative small businesses and agencies for about 3 years before making the shift to the fitness industry.

I run my own PT business where I train predominantly female clients; 1:1 and in small groups, encouraging them to find a balance in their lives and move their bodies in the best way for them. If I'm not with PT clients I'll be at Armature or Eve in Brunswick, teaching an array of really fun classes.
When I'm not in the studio I'm out for brunch or dinner with my friends, boyfriend, or family, trying new bars and restaurants all around Melbourne. Pre-covid I would spend a lot of my time traveling, whether that was a weekend at the beach or two months in Europe.

How did you find your way into the Pilates/Movement Industry?

I've been practicing Pilates like a religion for the last 8 years and I can't imagine my life without it! I got into strength training about 4 years ago after a shoulder injury and there was no turning back after I picked up my first barbell. I studied my cert 3 and 4 in fitness at the Australian Institute of Fitness and am trying to find the time to get my pilates certificate too (among many other qualifications I'd love to complete!).

Favourite form of exercise or favourite class style you teach?

It's a tie between weight lifting and reformer pilates! Anything, where I feel strong and empowered is a fave for me.

What does movement mean to you? How do you apply this to the way you teach?

I'm a big believer in balance, hence my business name, so I always try to encourage that mindset in my clients. All movement is good movement, you don't have to run a marathon to live an active lifestyle, you just have to find out what works for you and prioritise it.

Who is your career mentor?

I'm pretty inspired by everyone I work with at Armature and Eve, both amazing female-run businesses on a daily basis. I always learn more about my own instructing style and goals by participating in classes with my fellow instructors. Steph Claire-Smith and Laura Henshaw were also both big motivators for beginning my fitness career through their Keep it Cleaner brand.

Tell us why you love MoveActive?

There are so many reasons to love Move Active! A local, small business that is constantly providing us fitness instructors with the best quality products, making our jobs even more fun is pretty special! I always feel so empowered whilst wearing my grips in classes, able to show off a bit of my personality to the class.

Do you have a favourite MoveActive product?

So hard to pick just one! I wear my crew grips whilst teaching Barre and Pilates to keep me nice and cosy (especially in these cooler months) but I also use the fabric resistance bands in almost all of my classes and just can't fault them- they give each and every one of my clients the best burn!
